Markus Welter
Director, Editor, Postproduction
For more than 20 years Markus Welter has been working successfully as freelance director, postproduction supervisor and editor in Switzerland, Germany and the US. His first feature film, “Im Sog der Nacht”, premiered in 2009 at the Zurich Film Festival. There followed the SRF/ZDF co-production “Der Teufel von Mailand”, based on Martin Suter’s successful novel, and “Die Käserei in Goldingen” and “Das alte Haus”, which premiered at the Solothurn Film Festival in 2012. Furthermore Welter directed 7 episodes of the internationally praised series “Der Bestatter” (2013-2018). As co-director with Güzün Kar he realized the TV series “Seitentriebe”. In 2018 he directed “Kleine Prinzen”, an episode of Tatort, and he was also responsible for the postproduction and editing of the mini series “Private Banking” by Bettina Oberli.
In 2018 Markus Welter realized the feature film “Weglaufen geht nicht” on behalf of Swiss television. At the Film Festival Solothurn in 2019 the movie was honored with the Swiss TV award for best actress.
